About this calculator
A test grade percentage is the number of correct answers divided by the total number of questions, multiplied by 100. Use it for quizzes, exams, assignments, practice tests, and grading checks where every question is worth the same amount.
Formulas
grade = correct answers / total questions x 100
missed = total questions - correct answers
needed = ceiling(target grade / 100 x total questions)
Worked example
42 correct out of 50 gives 84%
For a 90% target on a 50-question test, you need at least 45 correct answers

Divide the number of correct answers by the total number of questions, then multiply by 100. For example, 42 correct out of 50 is 84%.
Yes. Enter 90 as the target grade to see the minimum number of correct answers needed for a 90% score. Adjust the target if your class uses a different cutoff.
Only if each entered question is worth the same amount. For weighted sections, partial credit, or point-based grading, calculate earned points divided by total points instead.
